Ensuring a smooth ride into the world of eCommerce, we began working with Bearmach in 2016 to create and produce an on-brand, competitive website, that would put them ahead of their competitors. And that’s exactly what we did.
Last month, our client Bearmach won eCommerce Business of the Year at the Welsh Business Awards 2020 (#WBA2020). Bearmach previously operated as a wholesaler, selling only into the trade market. In 2017, the company decided to immerse themselves into the world of eCommerce. Fast forward some years later and Bearmach has truly evolved. Having built an admirable market presence in their 61 years of operation, they now boast a product range of over 18,000 parts and accessories from leading brands. Our brief was to create a new B2C eCommerce experience that expanded a global business from a B2B only market, creating a scalable site to allow their customer base to grow and become a key player in the retail market. We did this by using Magento 1.
Focusing on a completely new UX, their large catalogue of products needed to be simplified when it came to identifying parts for specific Land Rover models. This was achieved by introducing a basic nav, identifiable categories, and the ability to shop by model.
We used design and UX to create clear routes of navigation for customers to easily navigate 18K+ SKUs to find the correct product. This also needed to be backed up with clear access to customer services, giving customers confidence in ordering the correct parts for their vehicle.
With such a diverse product catalogue and various different couriers fulfilling orders worldwide, cost calculations were anything but simple. We combined existing shipping extensions with our own custom functionality to hide these complexities from the user while maintaining accurate costs for Bearmach. This operates in tandem with a bespoke Select 4 Collect shipping extension, utilising Bearmach’s existing customer base, giving businesses the opportunity to earn commission by becoming a collection point for B2C orders.
The release of their Magento site resulted in a highly increased conversion rate as well as increased revenue and sessions. Bearmach now has a consumer base spanning over 165 countries. They have continued to be proactive in the development of their brand, with ongoing support from the Big Eye Deers team and have continued to evolve for a global, first-class consumer experience.
