Meet Pete. He is our problem-solver, coastal dweller, code-reviewer, tabletop tactician – you can be sure he is always playing the long game for clients.
How Pete landed here
Before joining Big Eye Deers, Pete carved out a name as a freelance web developer building bespoke web applications across a broad range of sectors. Then came the move to the Southwest to get married and start a family: new postcode, new priorities, same obsession with clean, reliable code. Somewhere between a flat white and a slightly dull conference, he met Steve. One conversation about architecture turned into a code review… and the rest is BED history.
What he does (and does, and does)
Official title: Tech Lead.
Everyday reality: Pete is the compass for our dev team.
If you’re looking for him day-to-day, he’s probably in the sweet spot where product decisions, technical trade-offs, and delivery meet – headphones on, backlog open, Slack pinging.
Pete on Pete
“The best part of the job? Teamwork. Solving new problems is always most satisfying as part of a team, and sharing our expertise makes every member of the team stronger.”
Favourite project (so far)
Leekes — stabilising a high-traffic eCommerce store.
Memorable for a reason: a tight initial deadline, a complex codebase, and a no-nonsense brief “make it stable.” Pete led the plan:
The result? A calmer platform, happier users, and a client who could breathe again. It’s the kind of work Pete loves: impactful, collaborative, and measurable.
How Pete works
Beyond the screen
When the laptop lid closes, Pete’s rolling dice. Tabletop games with friends and family are his perfect reset – strategy, laughter, and just enough rivalry to demand a rematch. Or he’s our with his hound – Ted
Parting wisdom
“In tech, a solid grasp of fundamentals will outlive any specific stack or platform. Be ready to apply your knowledge to something new and, most importantly, be proud of the things you create.”
Uniquely Pete
Unflappable, logical and methodical Pete is the super reliable team member – can be relied upon to drop the mic when it comes to GIFs in the group chat and is never ever grumpy with Marketing if they ask him to fling a like on their latest post…
