Background
Founded in 2006, Chunk of Devon started with a simple mission: to bake great pies and pasties, properly, just as you would at home. Their commitment to quality quickly earned them success and industry recognition, including multiple awards. Building on that reputation, they later launched Baked to Taste, a gluten-free range designed to deliver the same great taste, without the gluten. As the brand celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026, it continues to grow and evolve.
Brief
The brief was to merge Chunk of Devon and Baked to Taste into a single Shopify store. The new site needed to clearly present both product ranges under one brand and seamless shopping journey. Behind the scenes, this required careful data migration, maintaining key integrations, and consolidating apps to create a streamlined and scalable setup. As the business also operates a B2B offering, the new store needed to ensure these processes continued to function seamlessly alongside the B2C experience.
This project was delivered by our shopify development team based in Cardiff and Exeter.

Design and UX
Working closely with the Chunk team, we restructured the site architecture to clearly present the two product ranges within a single store front whilst maintaining a cohesive brand experience. The theme was refreshed, legacy code removed, and user experience improvements implemented to create a cleaner, more intuitive shopping journey.
As Chunk delivers time-sensitive goods with a minimum order value, it was imperative that this information was clear and easy to understand. Something that hadn’t been communicated effectively on the current site and was hampering conversions. We addressed this by adding clearer signposting on both product pages and at checkout.
We also integrated Klaviyo reviews, improved the way awards were displayed and clearly highlighted dietary requirements to enhance transparency and customer trust.
Data
We began by auditing both Shopify stores to understand their structure, apps, integrations, and data, identifying what needed to be migrated, consolidated, or improved. Baked to Taste was agreed to have the better theme and configuration out of the two stores so Chunk of Devon apps and data had to be migrated to the Baked to Taste store which would become the final unified website.
In addition redundant apps were identified and a plan to remove or replace them was created. Continuity of service was an important factor for existing Chunk of Devon customers as the site branding and domain would be retained, so any migration had to give them the most simple route to continue engaging with the brand.
Customer and order data was the top priority. In addition gift vouchers, coupon codes, and analytics and advertising feeds remained intact.
The two site blogs were combined to create an informative customer experience taking care to preserve established SEO for both brands.
To facilitate this we utilised Matrixify for the bulk of the data migration which made the process efficient and accurate.
